For this sophisticated new building in New Jersey, three staircases were clad with over 800 m² of AKUSTIpur wall panels. The carrier panels, made from MDF with fire protection class B-s2, d0 and formaldehyde-free adhesive, featured a veneered surface of American white oak. Given the complex shapes of these staircases, precise millimeter planning was impractical, making AKUSTIpur an ideal solution as a versatile, on-site adaptable panel. The fully microperforated panels were cut to size and finished with painted edges on-site, eliminating the need to account for unperforated edges during cutting and fastening. This approach minimized costs by avoiding factory fabrication of custom panels, reducing setup and travel requirements, and enabling a flexible, efficient, and cost-effective workflow.
